The Indian embassy in Kyrgyzstan issued the advisory after reports of Pakistani students being injured during mob attacks on their hostel. The consulate reassured the students, stating, “We are in touch with our students.The situation is presently calm but students are advised to stay indoors for the moment and get in touch with the Embassy in case of any issue…”
External affairs minister S Jaishankar urged students to maintain regular contact with the embassy. He said, “Monitoring the welfare of Indian students in Bishkek. Situation is reportedly calm now. Strongly advise students to stay in regular touch with the Embassy.”
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed his concern over the attacks and has instructed the country’s Ambassador to provide all necessary assistance to the affected students.
