Of these, the net estimated infiltration stood at 34 in 2021 (up to November 30), down from 51 in 2020, 138 in 2019, 143 in 2018 and 136 in 2017, as per the MHA’s annual report for 2020-2021.
Stating that the ongoing terrorist activity in J&K was linked with infiltration of terrorists from across LoC and international border, the report said terror-related incidents in 2021 fell to 229 from 244 in 2020, while security forces killed in action declined to 42 from 62 over the same period. Civilians deaths in the UT, however, show a slight increase to 41 in 2021 from 37 in 2020 even as terrorists killed were lower at 180 in 2021 as compared to 221 in 2021.
