GUWAHATI: Unidentified “armed individuals” attacked and ransacked an office of Manipur tribal body Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) in Churachandpur late on Sunday.
Computers and furniture were destroyed, ITLF said in a statement condemning the vandalism. It claimed that the same group had attempted to murder its spokesperson, Ginza Vualzong, at home the previous night.
“This act of uncivilised and, perhaps, fatal violence towards members of one’s own community is unacceptable,” the statement read. The tribal body warned it will not stop until the “alleged offenders come out and settle with ITLF as soon as possible”.
