SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday attached the property of Fayaz Ahmad Magray, an accused in the CRPF Group Centre attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district in 2017, under the provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
The property attached under an April 24 order of a Jammu NIA court included six shops built on 5.5 marlas of land at Lethpora.
Fayaz Ahmad Magray, a resident of Awantipora, was chargesheeted on August 1, 2018, for conspiring, along with local and Pakistani militants of JeM, to execute the fidayeen attack on the CRPF Group Centre at Lethpura in Pulwama.
A group of three heavily armed terrorists belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) had carried out the attack on the intervening night of December 30-31, 2017, killing five CRPF personnel and injuring three others.
Three terrorists, including a Pakistani, also perished in the attack, while two key conspirators, Mudassir Khan and Sajjad alias Mufti Waqas (a Pakistani), were killed in subsequent encounters, a NIA statement said.
Officials said Fayaz, an associate of slain terrorist Noor Mohd Tantray, had played an active role in planning and executing the attack. He carried out a recce of the CRPF centre and provided logistical support to JeM militants before and after the attack.
Besides Fayaz Magray, other accused arrested and chargesheeted in the case were Nissar Ahmad Tantray, Syed Hilal Andrabi and Irshad Ahmad Reshi.
