NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency on Friday released photographs of 25 operatives of outlawed Popular Front of India (PFI) — all absconding accused or unidentified accused wanted for allegedly unlawful activities carried out in Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu — and requested members of the public to share credible inputs and information that could lead to their arrest or identification.
Among the absconders on whom information has been sought from members of the public is Savad, resident of Ernakulam in Kerala, who had chopped off the palm of college professor T J Joseph from Thodupuzha on July 4, 2010. Another unknown person whose CCTV grab was shared was involved in the murder of Palakkad resident and RSS worker Srinivasan on April 16, 2022, said NIA.
About the others, NIA said “these persons were involved in recruitment of impressionable youths into PFI and were motivating them for waging violent jihad against the Indian government with an aim to threaten the unity, integrity and sovereignty of India”. NIA shared the relevant phone numbers for the people to directly message on WhatsApp any information which they may have on the whereabouts or identity of the wanted persons. It offered a “suitable reward” in exchange of any information and offered to keep the identity of the informant secret.
Among the 25 PFI activists on whom information has been sought through the NIA website and social media handles, three are from Andhra Pradesh or Telangana — Shaik Iliyas Ahmed from Nellore, Abdul Saleem from Jagtial in Telangana and Md Abdul Ahad from Nizamabad. Many of them are from Kerala— Abdul Wahab, Ayoob T A, Muhammed Yazer Arafath, Rafeeq M S and Savad (all from Ernakulam); Abdul Rasheed K, Muhammed Manzoor, Muhammedali K P and Shahul Hameed (all from Palakkad); Safeekh P from Malappuram; and two accused are unidentified.
Five of the PFI accused on whom credible inputs have been sought from the public are from Karnataka — Md Mustafa, Masood Agnadu, Mohammed Shereif, Ummar R and Abubakkar Siddik; all hailing from Dakshina Kannada district. Five others accused whose pictures were released are wanted for PFI cases in Tamil Nadu. They are Md Ali Jinna from Thirubhuvanam; Abdul Majith from Kumbakonam; Bhurkanudeen from Vadakamankudi; and Shahul Hameed and Nafeel Hassan from Thiruvidaimarathur.
