NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police is likely to examine all the relevant CCTV footage at chief minister Arvind Kejriwal‘s residence where AAP MP Swati Maliwal was allegedly assaulted by Bibhav Kumar on May 13.
Eight CCTV cameras are positioned outside Kejriwal’s house.
At least ten police teams are involved in the investigation, with four teams focusing on locating Kejriwal’s former personal secretary, Bibhav Kumar, who is believed to be in Punjab.
The police will begin by establishing a timeline of the incident, followed by reconstructing the complete sequence of events on the day Maliwal was assaulted. They will verify the time of Maliwal’s arrival at the chief minister’s House on May 13 and record statements from individuals she encountered at the gate.
According to available information, Maliwal took a cab to the CM House on the day of the incident, and the police will also be taking a statement from the cab driver.
Statements will be recorded from everyone Swati Maliwal met at the CM House.
On Thursday, the Delhi Police filed an FIR at the Civil Lines police station regarding the alleged assault on the AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP.
The police will now have Maliwal’s statement recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which allows a magistrate to record a person’s statement or confession during a police investigation before the trial. Maliwal made a PCR call from the Chief Minister’s House at 9.34 pm on May 13.
According to the police FIR, Maliwal’s complaint stated that she was “slapped, hit on the stomach, attacked and kicked by Bibhav Kumar at the Chief Minister’s residence.” The Delhi police filed an FIR naming Bibhav Kumar in connection with the alleged assault.
The FIR has been registered under various sections of the IPC, including 354, 506, 509, and 323, which cover offences such as assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, criminal intimidation, word gesture or acts of intent to insult, and assault.
