NEW DELHI: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Sunday put out full-page advertisements thanking its leader Tejashwi Yadav for his contributions as the deputy chief minister of Bihar amid reports of CM Nitish Kumar breaking away from the ‘mahagathbandhan’ alliance.
The ads, in Hindi, read: “Dhanyawad (thank you) Tejashwi”, from the”state unit of Rashtriya Janata Dal, Mahagathbandhan Parivar”.The party thanked its 34-year-old leader for several developmental initiatives ranging from giving over 4 lakh government jobs to enhancing Bihar’s tourism potential.
RJD, headed by Lalu Prasad, has been pleading with Nitish Kumar to ‘clear the confusion’, amid reports that he is likely to resign as the chief minister and taking oath once again with support from the BJP.
Meanwhile, CM Nitish Kumar is expected to address a meeting on Sunday after which he might submit his resignation to governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, according to the party sources.
Earlier this week, Nitish attacked dynastic politics while praising PM Narendra Modi for his government’s decision to confer the country’s highest civilian award ‘Bharat Ratna’ to socialist leader and former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur.
The RJD, which emerged as the single largest party in the 2020 assembly elections, has made it clear that it would make “no attempts to pull down the government”, amid the ongoing political crisis in the state.
The party tasted power in August 2022 after a realignment with JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar, who had left the BJP-led NDA in 2022.
