NEW DELHI: JD(U) president Nitish Kumar, who was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a historic ninth time on Sunday, has made it clear that he will not be leaving the NDA-fold.
Kumar took oath at Raj Bhavan in the presence of Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar, just hours after resigning from his post due to issues within the Grand Alliance and the opposition bloc INDIA.
“I was with them (NDA) earlier, too. We went on different paths, but now we are together and will remain so… I came back to where I was (NDA), and now there is no question of going anywhere else,” the 72-year-old leader told reporters after taking oath as the CM.
A total of eight ministers also took oath on Sunday, with the remaining names set to be announced soon. Among them, Samrat Choudhary and former Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha will serve as the deputy chief ministers, as announced by Kumar himself. Kumar emphasized his commitment to the development of Bihar.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Kumar on taking oath as the CM of Bihar and expressed confidence that the newly formed NDA government will prioritize the state’s development and work towards fulfilling the aspirations of its people.
In a post on X, Modi stated that he firmly believes the new government will serve the people with utmost dedication.
“The NDA government formed in Bihar will leave no stone unturned for the development of the state and to fulfill the aspirations of its people. I congratulate as chief minister and Samrat Chaudhary ji and Vijay Sinha ji on taking oath as deputy chief ministers,” PM Modi said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I am confident that this team will serve my family members of the state with full dedication,” he added.
