A police constable posted at the house of Additional Superintendent of Police (Radio) Sushma Aggarwal in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh has lodged a written complaint with the local police alleging that he was abused and thrashed with slippers by the lady police officer for taking a telephone call from his family members.
The constable, identified as Gyan Prakash Bhagel, alleged that it was on July 1 that he was attacked by the officer with slippers, and she also scratched him with her fingernails, which led to deep wounds.
Vidya Tiwari, SHO Vishvidyalaya police station, Rewa, where the complaint was lodged, said a similar complaint had been received from the additional SP as well.
“The constable has alleged that he was thrashed by the lady officer. Meanwhile, the additional SP said that the constable was always on his phone and was not performing his duties. Both the complaints have been forwarded to the district SP,” Tiwari said while talking to India Today TV on the phone.
The matter has now reached the radio police headquarters in Bhopal and Additional Superintendent of Police Shashank Garg has been asked to conduct an enquiry.
CONSTABLE’S DEFENCE
Constable Gyan Prakash, who has been summoned to Bhopal while talking to India Today TV on the phone said, “I have given a complaint to the local police. My medical examination was also done and I have also approached the district SP. I received the call because I’m the only elder member in the family. My elder brother passed away a few days back and my family members wanted to talk to me to resolve some issue at home. I even said sorry to ASP madam but she did not listen. She has indulged in similar behaviour in the past as well.”
Meanwhile, Additional SP Sushma Aggarwal was not available for comment on the charges levelled against her.
