Amid the escalating row over Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Koshyari’s ‘Gujarati-Rajasthani’ remark, BJP MLC Prasad Lad said that the contributions of other communities are also respected. The BJP leader said that nobody can undermine the contribution of Marathis for Mumbai.
Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has kicked up a row, saying that if Gujaratis and Rajasthanis are removed from Maharashtra, especially Mumbai and Thane, no money would be left in the state and it would cease to be the financial capital of the country.
After the remarks of the Governor sparked a row, Bhagat Koshyari issued a clarification, saying his intention was not to hurt the sentiments of Marathi people.
Hitting out at Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, Prasad Lad said Uddhav Thackeray never honoured the Governor when he was the chief minister.
“Uddhav Thackeray can’t decide who should be put in jail. He should first look at himself,” he said.
BJP MLA SLAMS UDDHAV THACKERAY
BJP MLA Nitish Rane hit out at Uddhav Thackeray and said, “All business partners of Uddhav Thackeray are non Marathis. He has restricted Marathi manoos to vada pavs and selling them and did not empower them. Thackeray backstabbed Hindus and Marathis.”
“It should be known how much importance should be given to Uddhav. Even his party members don’t care about him,” he added.

“Yesterday’s programme was of Gujarati and Marwari communities. The Governor said he has given an explanation over his remarks. Marathi people have right in Mumbai. His speech does not determine whether they should be sent to jail or not,” the BJP leader said.
Nitish Rane’s statement was a response to Uddhav Thackeray’s statement over Governor’s remarks. Earlier in the day, Uddhav Thackeray said ‘time has come to decide whether to send Koshyari back home or to jail’.
“If Marathi people are insulted, does the BJP sit quietly? If anyone insults Maharashtra and Mumbai, no one would remain silent. Does Sanjay Raut deal with a Marathi?,” the BJP leader questioned.
MAHARASHTRA GUV REMARK ROW
Speaking at an event in Mumbai, Bhagat Koshyari said, “I tell people here that if Gujaratis and Rajasthanis are removed from Maharashtra, especially Mumbai and Thane, you will have no money and Mumbai will not be a financial capital.”

He made the statement after the naming ceremony of a chowk in Andheri, a western suburb of Mumbai. The Opposition parties slammed the Governor over the remarks and termed it as an insult to Marathis.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has said he won’t support Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s remarks on Mumbai or forget Marathi people’s contribution to the city’s growth. Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said that Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had ‘insulted the Marathis’ and had ‘crossed every limit’.
