JAMMU: Security forces brought down a Pakistani drone, carrying a huge cache of arms and ammunition, along the Line of Control in Rajouri Wednesday night and launched a massive cordon and search operation in forward villages. Defence PRO (Jammu) Lt-Col Devender Anand said: “On the intervening night of April 12-13, a suspicious movement of aerial objects was reported on LoC in Rajouri’s Beri Pattan area, after which a cordon and search operation was launched by army troops in coordination with police, and a drone was tracked.”
The drone was shot down and a sealed packet containing five loaded AK magazines, several rounds, some cash and other items was recovered from it, he said.
Searches are being conducted in the entire area as security forces expect more drone-dropped arms recovery.
Repeated attempts of cross-LoC smuggling of weapons, cash and narcotics along the LoC and the International Border in J&K for fuelling terror activities have become a major challenge for the security forces, who have foiled many such bids.
