CHENNAI: The circumstances leading to the death of former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa on December 5, 2016, are back in the spotlight as the Justice Arumughaswamy commission has recommended a government probe against VK Sasikala, her relative and doctor Sivakumar, former health minister C Vijayabaskar, former chief secretary P Rama Mohana Rao and others.
The recommendation was part of the report submitted by Justice Arumughaswamy on Saturday. The report was placed before the Cabinet on Monday. The Cabinet also decided to seek the views of legal experts on the recommendations to order a government probe.
DMK had announced in its poll manifesto for the 2021 assembly election that it would probe Jayalalithaa’s death and take appropriate legal action against the offenders.
