BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra on Wednesday ordered an inquiry after a poster at a higher secondary school in Damoh showed Hindu girls wearing scarves that were taken for hijabs by some right wing outfits. A school official clarified that the girls were simply wearing scarves that are part of the school uniform.
As a social media post, featuring images of the school’s top-performing girls in the board exams, went viral, triggering protests and accusations of religious conversion, Damoh collector Mayank Agarwal ordered an investigation while allegations of religious conversion prompted the home minister to order a separate inquiry.
The collector set up a probe team, which interacted with parents and school management. No evidence of religious conversion was found, said sources.
