Seven push carts and a motorbike were set ablaze after two groups attacked each other at Kerur town in Karnataka’s Bagalkot district on Wednesday.
Members of the two groups also hurled stones at each other.
A police officer, seeking anonymity, said a man hit a Muslim man near a bus stand.

The officer said the man from the Muslim community called his friends to hit the man and around 6pm a violent clash erupted between the two groups.
The members of the two groups also hurled stones at the shops in the nearby market. The police officer said two people were stabbed.
He said a few people were injured and were undergoing treatment.
