Pakistan and Iran have agreed to “de-escalate” the situation as tensions heightened post ‘tit-for-tat’ missile strikes. Iran carried out airstrike in Pakistan’s Balochistan and said that it attacked terror group “Jaish al-adl”. Pakistan retaliated in the same way and carried out military strikes in Siestan-o-Baluchistan province of Iran. According to the Dawn, Pakistan’s caretaker PM Anwaarul Haq Kakar chaired a meet with National Security Committee on Jan 19. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister also held a telephonic conversation with his Iranian counterpart. As per a release by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, the leaders agreed to de-escalate the situation.
