Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived at Bhubaneswar airport on August 5. He was received at the airport by BJP State President Manmohan Samal and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, among others. During his visit to the state, Shah is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various development projects in the city. Shah’s visit to the state comes amid the BJD extending its support to the bill replacing the Delhi services ordinance in a boost to the treasury benches, especially in Rajya Sabha, and also backing the BJP-led NDA government against the no-confidence motion brought by opposition parties in Parliament. Meanwhile, speaking to ANI, a BJP leader from Odisha Lekha Samantsinghar said, “Amit Shah will hold a meeting with party workers and office bearers tomorrow… BJD is in power in Odisha for 23 years now but people have still not got the basic facilities. Calling Naveen Patnaik a failed chief minister won’t be wrong. BJP has a vote share of 40% in the state, the people in Odisha have always supported BJP and want the party to come to power.”
