Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel commented on Gujarat’s High Court verdict on the defamation case against Rahul Gandhi and said that Rahul Gandhi has been given the maximum punishment in the case and that he was even asked to vacate his residence. “Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was not given a chance to speak in the Lok Sabha…He is been given maximum punishment in the case (‘Modi surname’). He was asked to vacate his residence, yet Rahul Gandhi is walking on the right path and we are all with him…,” said Bhupesh Baghel. The court dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s plea and noted that at least 10 criminal cases were pending against him. Even after the present case, some more cases have been filed against him, the court noted. Earlier in May this year, Gujarat HC reserved its order on Rahul Gandhi’s plea seeking a stay on his conviction in the 2019 ‘Modi surname’ defamation case.
