BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has stirred up a political storm after he made a sensational allegation against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra. He accused Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra of taking bribes to ask questions in Parliament. Nishikant has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla demanding an inquiry committee and ‘immediate suspension’ from the House. In response to Dubey’s complaint, Mahua Moitra in a series of tweets said that she would be open to any motion once the pending breach of privileges cases involving members of the ruling party are addressed. Moitra also said the CBI is welcome to investigate the matter. She has sent legal notices to Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nishikant Dubey over “false and defamatory allegations” against her. Meanwhile, The Hiranandani group refuted the allegations made by Nishikant Dubey saying they have ‘no merit’. On the other hand, The Adani Group also released a statement in response to a complaint from a Supreme Court lawyer, alleging that Mahua Moitra singled out Gautam Adani and his companies through her parliamentary questions. It said, ‘This development corroborates our statement of 9 October 2023 that some groups and individuals have been working overtime to harm our name, goodwill and market standing.’
