Enforcement Directorate officer Ankit Tiwari was arrested in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, for allegedly accepting a Rs 20 lakh bribe. The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption made the arrest, and Tiwari is in judicial custody until December 15, facing bribery charges. Searches were conducted at Tiwari’s Madurai office and residence, revealing the involvement of more officers. Tiwari is accused of blackmail, accepting crores in bribes distributed among ED officials. Seized documents and ongoing investigations may extend to ED offices in Madurai and Chennai. The case unfolded when Tiwari contacted a government employee for a bribe related to a closed DVAC case, initially demanding Rs 3 crore, later settling for Rs 51 lakh, and receiving Rs 20 lakh on November 1. A complaint to DVAC led to Tiwari’s red-handed arrest on December 1 during the acceptance of the second installment.
