Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Brinda Karat on December 26 informed that the party will not attend the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. “Our party will not attend the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya…We respect the religious beliefs but they are connecting a religious programme with politics…This is the politicization of a religious programme. This is not right,” said Brinda Karat.Earlier, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury turned down the invitation by the Ram Temple Trust to attend the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple. In 2020, Yechury criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for laying the foundation stone of Ram Temple at Ayodhya saying that it was a violation of the Constitution in letter and spirit.
