As the Air Quality Index (AQI) deteriorates in the National Capital, Mayor Shelly Oberoi has voiced her concerns about the escalating pollution problem. She emphasized the need for both the government and stakeholders to collaborate rather than engage in a blame game, addressing the issue together. Mayor Shelly Oberoi highlighted the efforts undertaken by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to combat pollution, including the formation of 517 teams comprising over 1,100 workers and officials. These teams are actively engaged in intensive water sprinkling during morning and evening shifts, utilizing water sprinklers, anti-smog guns, and jetting machines. Additionally, 13 pollution hotspots have been identified and targeted for remediation. Furthermore, Mayor Shelly Oberoi reported that over the past three days, there has been an improvement in the AQI, with pollution levels showing a notable decrease.
