Reacting to the arrest of West Bengal Minister Jyotipriya Mallick in an alleged case of corruption in the Public Distribution System (PDS) involving the distribution of ration, Bharatiya Janata Party State President Sukanta Majumdar said that the former’s arrest was inevitable. “His arrest was inevitable. Everyone knew about the smuggling. It is not the first time Mamata Banerjee is protesting to save someone. Mamata Banerjee sympathises with thieves. She is saying that Mallick is diabetic. Just because he is diabetic, should he be allowed to steal? If he isn’t involved in any foul play then they should let ED, CBI perform their duty. Everything will come to the fore,” said Sukanta Majumdar.
