Indian and Russian officials will meet to finalize the delivery schedule for the remaining two squadrons of S-400 air defense missiles. The Russian side has been unclear about delivery timelines due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. In 2018-19, India signed a significant contract for five S-400 missile squadrons, with three already in the country. Interestingly, the squadrons originally manufactured for the Indian Air Force were first used by the Russians. Furthermore, the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) has approved the procurement of the Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (LRSAM) after receiving clearance from the Cabinet Committee on Security. The Indian Air Force is collaborating with DRDO to expedite the LR-SAM delivery schedule, bolstering India’s air defense capabilities with a reach of around 400 kilometers.
