Four terrorists were killed by security forces in a joint operation in Jammu and Kashmir, officials of the Indian Army said on July 18. The joint operation involving the Indian Army’s Special Forces, Rashtriya Rifles and the Jammu and Kashmir police along with other forces was conducted in the Sindhara area of Poonch. Brigadier MP Singh and Poonch Senior Superintendent of Police Vinay Sharma addressed a joint press conference on the same.Brigadier MP Singh said, “During continuing relentless operations by the Indian Army in last three months as part of Operation Trinetra, on July 16, input was received about the movement of unidentified persons in the general area of Sindhrah – Bachianwali and Maidana. Accordingly, the area was cordoned. On July 17, specific intelligence regarding the presence of armed terrorists near village Sindarah of Surankote Tehsil, District Poonch was received. Based on this intelligence, Indian Army and Special Operations Group of Jammu Kashmir Police, further launched a specific cordon and search operation of this area.”“Four terrorists, who had taken shelter in the forest near the village, opened indiscriminate fire on the approaching troops. Their fire was promptly retaliated, and the terrorists were pinned down in the area,” he added.
