A section of the false ceiling in the newly constructed integrated terminal at Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair collapsed, leading to a heated exchange of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of inaugurating unfinished or substandard infrastructure. In response, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia defended the government, stating that the ceiling panels were loosened for CCTV installation, and the incident occurred due to heavy winds. The terminal had been inaugurated by PM Modi just a week before the incident.
