Operation Ajay has successfully evacuated 1,200 Indians from Israel in response to the ongoing conflict. The operation began on October 11 after attacks on Israeli towns by Hamas terrorists. The first group of evacuees, including 18 Nepali nationals, returned to India on October 13. The Indian embassy in Israel coordinated the return of registered citizens on special flights, and the fifth flight, carrying 286 passengers, including 18 Nepalese citizens, landed in New Delhi on October 17. More flights may be operated as the situation evolves, as stated by Minister of State V Muraleedharan. The Indian Embassy in Israel has issued advisories and manages travel requests based on individuals’ specific situations. It’s estimated that approximately 18,000 Indians were residing in Israel during the conflict.
