Lahore, Pakistan, maintained its position among the world’s four most polluted cities on November 25, registering an AQI of 230. Consequently, the Punjab government declared the closure of educational institutions and government offices in Lahore. Deflecting accountability, the state government pointed fingers at India, attributing the pollution to stubble burning in the neighboring country. Plans for cloud seeding to induce rain and disperse smog were underway. Meanwhile, Delhi topped the list with an AQI of 303, Kolkata secured the third position with an AQI of 238, and Dhaka, Bangladesh, ranked second globally with a score of 251. An AQI between 101-200 is considered “unhealthy,” while 201-300 is deemed “very unhealthy,” especially for sensitive groups.
