Speaking about Supreme Court’s hearing on Article 370 abrogation, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti on August 09, said that Parliament does not have the power to abrogate it unless Jammu and Kashmir’s Constituent Assembly recommends. Mehbooba Mufti said, “I feel good that Article 370 is being discussed in the Supreme Court, the same issues were also being raised by PDP from 2019. In Supreme Court’s hearing, it is being discussed that Parliament does not have the power to abrogate Article 370 unless the Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir recommends it to abrogate it.” The Centre abrogated special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 on August 5, 2019.
