Lalit Jha, the alleged mastermind behind the December 13 Parliament security breach, was apprehended by Delhi Police on December 14 after an extensive manhunt. Police reported that Jha voluntarily presented himself at the police station, leading to his arrest and subsequent interrogation. On the same day, Delhi’s Patiala House Court granted a seven-day custodial remand for the four other individuals arrested in connection with the case. The Lok Sabha secretariat had earlier suspended eight security personnel on December 14, attributing the action to security lapses that resulted in the significant breach. Notably, this breach occurred on the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack.
