On November 8, members of the BJP Mahila Morcha in Jammu organized a protest against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The demonstration was in response to Kumar’s recent comments on women’s education and population control. On November 7, Kumar highlighted the significance of women’s education in controlling population growth. During a session in the Assembly, he provided a vivid description of how an educated woman can influence her husband’s actions during sexual intercourse to limit the number of births, saying, “The husband’s acts led to more births. However, with education, a woman knows how to restrain him… this is the reason, the numbers (of births) are coming down,” in a colloquial manner.
