Farmers in Punjab’s Amritsar led by the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee staged ‘rail roko’ protest at various Railway lines across Punjab on September 28 over their demands of compensation for flood-affected farmers and Minimum Support Price (MSP) guarantee among others. Farmers, mainly from Punjab and from other states like Haryana joined in the protest. The protests were announced by Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee general secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher. The protest was announced to be a three-day rail blockade starting from September 28. A farmer leader said “If anyone tries to misbehave with the farmers of Punjab, then farmers from Haryana will also join Punjab farmers. Farmers are united throughout the country.”
