Delhi Pollution Control Committee Chairman Ashwani Kumar suspended the study aimed at identifying sources of air pollution in the national capital on October 25. In response to this development, Environment Minister Gopal Rai revealed that they have written a letter to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, urging him to take swift action against Ashwini Kumar and to restart the study. Rai expressed his concerns, stating, “For this study, the Delhi government had allocated Rs 12 crore in 2021. The report received this year identified various pollution sources and their contributions to Delhi’s pollution. However, this year, DPCC Chairman Ashwini Kumar halted the study in October, despite Rs 10 crores being allocated for necessary equipment, with an additional Rs 2 crores pending payment. In the last week, the study came to a halt. It is disconcerting that a cabinet decision is not being followed, and the study is suspended. We have written to the CM to take immediate action against Ashwini Kumar and to resume the study…”
