After over 76 years of India’s independence, Pakistan’s obsession with its neighbour has not ended yet. Times have changed, India has become the 5th largest economy, whereas, Pakistan struggling to make ends meet. There is no comparison between India, Pakistan, however, many Pakistanis draw parallel with its neighbour. Pakistan’s political scientist and author Ishtiaq Ahmed showed the mirror to Pakistani citizens. Ishtiaq Ahmed highlighted the plight of Pakistanis and explained how Islamabad “lost the race” with India. He said, “There was a time when America and World Bank were backing Pakistan to show India that socialism doesn’t work, but capitalism does. We started talking about the Kashmir war and everyone was scared. Everyone was thinking that we are helping this deprived country (Pakistan) and the government is waging war against other countries. This way, who will help Pakistan?” Ishtiaq also said that Pakistan was born because of hatred and the country is still alive because of hatred. “Pakistan is the problem state in this region. We have strained ties with India. We have strained ties with Iran also. The same goes for Afghanistan. With China too, the relation are not so good. Then what kind of achievement is this? We were born because of hatred, we are alive because of hatred. This hatred was for Indians and Hindus. This hatred was for Bengalis. Now we hate Baloch people. With Iranis also, there is hatred. How can we become a normal state,” he added.
