It is meticulously carved out of a single rock, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of its creators. This awe-inspiring statue is a significant representation of the Hindu deity Ganesha and is associated with the Western Chalukya Empire.
History of Aishwarya Ganapathi Idol in Avancha
King Thylapudu, ruler of Avancha, sculpted the monolithic idol known as Kapilavai Linga Moorthy. King Vikramaditya, who hailed from the western Chalukya dynasty, was the ruler of the Badami kingdom, which is located in the present-day Gulbarga district.
The Telangana region was under the rule of the dynasty for a span of more than two centuries. Someshwarudu and Thylapudu, the sons of Vikramaditya, played significant roles in this dynasty. Thylapudu, in particular, was appointed as the Samanta Raju of a specific province called erstwhile Kandoor, with its capital being Avancha since 1113 AD.
